Winter Field Day 2026

A snowy landscape featuring a road and trees, with a sign indicating 'CANCELED' crossed out, announcing the cancellation of 'DARC WFD 2026'.

The DARC leadership has decided to cancel Winter Field Day plans for 2026 due to the high potential for severe weather in the DFW area, which could make the event unsafe or unenjoyable.

We encourage everyone who is able to participate from their home stations instead. You may operate under your own callsign using the category, class, and location “1H NTX.” Full details and rules are available at https://winterfieldday.org/sop.php

While operating from home, please feel free to join us on our Discord server to share contacts, band openings, and other activity. You can join here: https://discord.com/invite/caJqhjSv

Most importantly, please stay safe and warm this weekend. Keep a radio handy and monitor our 146.88 repeater for SKYWARN and other RACES activations.

Winter Field Day 2018: GO

greenlight

It looks like the rain will be over before the event begins, so Winter Field Day is a GO for this Saturday, January 27th, 2018. Setup will begin at Dreyfuss Point at 10:00 AM, operating will begin at 1:00 PM, and the Lecture and Lab will take place at about 11:00 AM.

For the Lecture and Lab, we’ll be doing a 2-meter antenna build. Bring $5.00 and your choice of connector to fit an RG-58 cable…you’ll be building a neat roll-up J-pole. A soldering iron might be helpful, but we should have some there. Even if the official time is 11:00 AM, we’ll keep materials around for anyone who comes out and wants to add a great antenna to their HT or portable rig.

Not only will the rain be gone, but the weather should be sunny and warm. Come on out and join us!
