Lecture And Lab May 2022

Come join the DARC for May 2022 Lecture and Lab – Radio In The Park Day. This will be a fun in-person outdoor event. Plan on attending in-person May 28, 2022 start time is 10am central time at TW Richardson Grove Park in Irving TX Bring your Go-Boxes, antennas, radios, batteries – what ever – will also be testing the KM4ACK antennas that we built at the Apr 2022 DARC Lecture and lab.

ARRL Field Day is the single most popular HAM Radio on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada and is open to all FCC license classes. On the fourth weekend of June of each year, more than 35,000 radio amateur operators gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends and family to operate from remote locations. Field Day is a picnic, a campout, practice for emergencies, an informal contest and, most of all, FUN! This year the DARC will host an in-person event at the Johnston Outpost YMCA in Farmers Branch. The festivities and event officially start at 1pm central time June 25, 2022 but the DARC crew in true fashion will be there early at 9am for setup. The DARC will be operating as 3A (Three Alpha) (section NTX) and will have 3 radios on the air during the event. Come join in the fun! Additional event/agenda details below.

The planned repeater maintenance on the DARC W5FC 146.880mhz repeater was completed ahead of schedule on March 20, 2022. Work was finished by 11am and the repeater is back on the air and 100% operational. The new Tesco DB224 antenna and coax should resolve all the scratch and noise on the repeater. Planned Outage – The DARC W5FC 146.880mhz repeater will be off the air for some maintenance and a new antenna Sunday March 20, 2022 from around 8:30am until 2pm Central Time. The new Tesco DB224 antenna and coax should resolve all the scratch and noise on the repeater, please plan accordingly.

Come join the DARC for the March 2022 Lecture and Lab. This will be a fun virtual event. Plan on joining the Google Meet Sat March 26, 2022 at 11am. Find the Google Meet meeting link on the DARC Calendar. We will be showcasing SDR (Software Defined Radio) applications using an RTL based dongle and a Raspberry Pi running the pre-canned all-in-one “Fox In A Box” Pi image; AMSAT’s suite of SDR apps for the Raspberry Pi with an RTL-SDR v3 dongle.
