Winter Field Day 2021

The purpose of Winter Field Day is to foster HAM camaraderie, field operation, emergency operating preparedness, and just plain on the air, outdoor fun in the midst of winter for American, Canadian, and DX HAMs.  Don’t let those winter doldrums keep you locked up in the house… get out and play some radio but be safe about it!!   Winter Field Day is the last full weekend in January of each year and runs for 24 hours 1900 UTC Saturday to 1900 UTC Sunday. For 2021 this is January 30/31, 2021

Due to the ongoing COVID Pandemic situation the Dallas Amateur Radio Club will NOT be hosting a public Winter Field Day club event.  Instead, operators are encourage to operate independently and safely from a  location they are comfortable with and will submit their Cabrillo formatted station log using “Dallas Amateur Radio Club”  in the CLUB field so the DARC can get credit.  Because of the Pandemic there are updated rules for Winter Field Day 2021.  Operators need to review and familiarize themselves with the Winter Field Day Rules posted at:

In the DFW area WFD 2021 starts Sat Jan 30 at 1pm Central Time and will run until Sunday Jan 31 at 1pm Central Time. Popular operating modes include SSD, CW and digital modes – but understand that the popular FT modes (FT8 and FT4) are NOT valid per the rules for WFD. Refer to the WFD rules for the proper exchange.

Like the ARRL Field Day 2020 – the DARC will be hosting a Discord collaboration room and operators are invited to drop in anytime and join in the camaraderie and collaboration.   The Discord channel invite is

In preparation of WFD 2021 the DARC will be hosting an online meeting via Discord Sunday Jan 24, 2021 at 7pm Central  – Any operators interested can join, you need not be a member of the DARC, this is an open invention to all operators.   The DARC will be collaborating via Discord to answer any questions on WFD or helping with logging or radio setup – or anything WFD 2021 related.  If you get stuck in Discord just look for KG5EIU #4473 and join in.
