The DARC Radio in the Park event is tomorrow! Don’t forget to come on out and say, “hi!”
The most interesting contest this weekend is the Yankee Clipper Contest Club’s 40th anniversary contest. How else would a contest club celebrate a special day, but with yet another contest?
Please take note of this important information presented by John, KB5NJD: register your station, EOC, or Field Day location if you might use 630 or 2,200 meters. You can contact kb5njd for more information.
Mike, KG5P, mentioned that the Route 66 special event is active on the air!

It’s been a wild week in amateur radio, with many solar flares and geomagnetic disturbances sending the northern lights as far south as Arkansas. We also have at least one unusual contest going on: the Worked All Europe DX Context, sponsored by that other DARC in Germany. The Route 66 special event is going on now, too!
We’ve got several club events coming up, with a radio day in the park planned for the Sept. 17th, our Lifewalk support taking place on October 1st, and a Lecture and Lab taking place on Sept. 23rd. Don’t forget that raffle tickets for the excellent Yaesu FT-991A are available at all our club events, including Lecture and Lab.

Save the date! On Sunday afternoon 1pm Sep 17, 2017 KF5ZBL and KG5EIU will be out at Dreyfus Point at White Rock Lake Park in Dallas TX for Radio In The Park Day. This is a “Shine ONLY” event, if it raining we will not be there. We plan on meeting at 1pm at Dreyfus Point Park (32.836591, -96.714532) on the east side of White Rock Lake in Dallas. This is an open invite and anybody that wants to enjoy an afternoon in the park is welcome licensed or not. Will be working out some kinks in go-boxes, AREDN nodes, home-built batteries, solar setups, antennas – including the home-built buddy pole and of course radios and rigs, D-Star, Fusion, Wires-X. This is the same location that the DARC was at for Winter Field Day 2017. See the map below for details or look for KF5ZBL or KG5EIU-i on APRS. Important – this is a SHINE only event, if there is weather or rain this event will be postponed.
