Radio In The Park Day – Sep 17 2017

Save the date!  On Sunday afternoon 1pm Sep 17, 2017 KF5ZBL and KG5EIU will be out at Dreyfus Point at White Rock Lake Park in Dallas TX for Radio In The Park Day.  This is a “Shine ONLY” event, if it raining we will not be there.  We plan on meeting at 1pm at Dreyfus Point Park  (32.836591, -96.714532) on the east side of White Rock Lake in Dallas.   This is an open invite and anybody that wants to enjoy an afternoon in the park is welcome licensed or not.   Will be working out some kinks in go-boxes, AREDN nodes, home-built batteries, solar setups, antennas – including the home-built buddy pole and of course radios and rigs, D-Star, Fusion, Wires-X.   This is the same location that the DARC was at for Winter Field Day 2017.  See the map below for details or look for KF5ZBL or KG5EIU-i on APRS.  Important – this is a SHINE only event, if there is weather or rain this event will be postponed.

Highway To A DX Party

The Citrus Belt Amateur Radio Club of San Bernardino, California, is once again hosting the 18th annual ‘Route 66 On The Air’ special event between September 9 – 17th, 2017.  During the event period you can try an work 21 stations (2 of them are Rovers) operating in or around the old “Route 66” From Santa Monica CA to Chicago IL.

Tech Net News 09-02-2017

Our next club meeting is this coming Tuesday. Join us at the Dallas Medical Center to hear NWS meteorologist Jason Dunn speak about reading weather radar. Our board meeting is at 6:00 pm, our program is at at 7:00. Both meetings are public and take place in the 3rd floor Community Room of the main hosptial building. Don’t worry—parking is free.

Don’t forget to bring some extra cash to the meeting! We’ll have raffle tickets on sale for our December Dinner grand prize, a Yaesu FT-991A.

We have an on-line form you can use if you’d like to volunteer to help us support the 2017 Lifewalk on October 1st, and the Plano Amateur Radio Klub has a site up for those who’d like to help at the Plano Balloon Festival.
