The hamfest will be taking place this Saturday—March 2nd, 2019—from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Betcha Bingo hall in Irving. Help with set-up, take-down, and security will be needed.

Our next club meeting, on Tuesday, March 5th, will focus on the most popular of all radio antennas, the dipole. Jim Eatman, KG5WAW, will discuss the electrical characteristics of dipoles and how to use them effectively.

We hope to see you at the hamfest or at our meeting!

Tech Net News 02-23-2019

The hamfest will be taking place one week from today—March 2nd, 2019—from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Betcha Bingo hall in Irving. Help with set-up, take-down, and security will be needed.

There are also a few contests this weekend. There are QSO parties in both North and South Carolina, as well as the CQ WW 160-meter SSB Contest, for folks with big ambitions on the top band.

If you have time to get on the air and catch a rare one, Antarctic Activity Week runs through Sunday. I missed out on hearing about this event when it started, but I’ll be doing my best this weekend.

The hamfest will be taking place on March 2nd, 2019, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Betcha Bingo hall in Irving. Help with set-up, take-down, and security will be needed. We also have a Lecture and Lab this month, on Saturday, February 23rd. Bring $15.00, your soldering tools, and your thinking cap…and you, too, can build your own digital multi-meter using instructions written only in Chinese. We’ll be in the 3rd-floor community room of the Dallas Medical Center at 10:00 am.

Besides those great local events, you can also look forward to a few contests next weekend: there are QSO parties in both North and South Carolina, as well as the CQ WW 160-meter SSB Contest, for folks with big ambitions on the top band.

We also have a Lecture and Lab this month, on Saturday, February 23rd: If you bring $15.00 and your soldering tools, you can try your hand at building your own digital multi-meter. We’ll be in the 3rd-floor community room of the Dallas Medical Center at 10:00 am.

The ARRL DX Contest, is going on right now, as are special SSTV transmissions from the International Space Station. The contest calendar also features the AWA AM QSO Party, for the AMers out there.

We also have a Lecture and Lab this month, on Saturday, February 23rd: Bring $15.00, your soldering tools, and your enthusiasm, and you can build your own digital multi-meter. We’ll be in the 3rd-floor community room of the Dallas Medical Center at 10:00 am.

This week’s contests include the ARRL School Club Roundup (during the week) and the CW edition of the ARRL DX Contest, coming up this weekend.

And finally, don’t forget that the Dallas County SKYWARN class—the one in Garland with both basic and advanced classes—is THIS SATURDAY!
