The Dallas Amateur Radio Club will be hosting ARRL Field Day 2024 at the Johnston Outpost YMCA, 3325 Valley View Ln., Farmers Branch, TX .
Think Dallas Field Day 2024! Think Excitement! Think Fun! Think Food! That is what you have rolled into one event when you come and attend Dallas Field Day June 22 – 23, 2024! The Dallas Amateur Radio Club kicks off their Field Day event Saturday, June 22nd at 1 pm central time and ends Sunday, June 23th, at 1 pm central time. (This is the 4th weekend in June, not the last weekend of the month for 2024!)
Our setup crew of volunteers will meet at 10 AM Saturday to start putting finishing touches on our setup. If you are available to volunteer with set-up, please contact us here on this link so we can get an idea on how many volunteers we can depend upon.
We will take over the Johnston Outpost YMCA on Friday evening around 5 pm and start readying for Saturday morning setup. Our DARC Communications Trailer will be on site for the event.
We are hoping for a great turn out for families and individuals who are able and would like to share this time with us – remember no alcoholic beverages are permitted.
We will kick off Saturday being ready to CQ CQ CQ CQ dah dit dah dit dah dah dit dah, Whisky 5 Fried Chicken at 1 PM! We will be operating 3A with a GOTA station. There will be plenty of stations to work from, whether it is CW, Digital or voice – there is room for all. We will have signup sheets on W5FC dot org to reserve time for stations and we will be operating around the clock, so if you like to stay up late at night, we have a place for you. Operators are encouraged to review the Field Day rules here on the ARRL site.
The Afterglow Movie will also be live on site starting at 10:30PM central time. Keep current with the w5fc.org to find out what the movie will be.
Something new: We are looking for people to man the grill, so if you know how to use a grill and are willing to help, send us a note here on this link. The DARC will provide Saturday lunch, around 2PM central, consisting of Hamburgers & Hot Dogs and will again have a potluck dinner starting around 7:30PM central Saturday. You may sign up to bring a particular dish(s) using the form below or even let us know during one of the Food Fixin’ Nets on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month on the DARC 146.880. Food will be served until it runs out! It is a “first-come first-served event”. The DARC will also have a Field Day door drawing for some HRO gift certificates 1st place $100.00, 2nd place $75.00, and 3rd place $50.00 for anybody that attends and signs in. That drawing will be at the DARC July 2024 general meeting. In addition, anybody that attends DARC field day and signs in will be given an entry to DARC-MOE. Last, we need volunteers to help clean up Sunday June 23, 2024 at 1pm/afternoon – please note your willingness to help on the sign up form below. For that effort anybody helping will be eligible for a special $50.00 HRO gift certificate – you MUST be present to win. That drawing will be held on site.
