Keeping with the times the DARC Lecture And Lab for July 25, 2020 will be virtual! Join us at 11am Central Time from the comfort and safety of your home. In this virtual Lab And Lecture, Mountain Goat – Curtis Hays KC5CW will be presenting SOTA Summits On The Air. Come learn all about SOTA fundamentals, getting setup and operating tips. If you ever wanted to go mountain topping or QRP this would be a good Lecture and Lab to attend.
The DARC hosts a Lab and Lecture on the fourth Saturday of each month that usually starts at 10am. LnL is usually held at the Dallas Medical Center (which is the same same locations for DARC monthly meetings) usually on the 3rd floor. This is open to anyone licensed or not and you don’t need to be a member of the DARC. However, due to the pandemic situation of the COVID-19 virus, we will be doing Lecture And Lab virtually using Google Meet with a start time of 11am.
DARC Virtual Lecture And Lab gets started Sat July 25, 2020 at 11am central. For this LnL you will need to access the virtual meeting with a supported device of your choice – Please review our getting started guide to virtual events prior to attending for a positive virtual meeting experience. (Google Chrome browser works great)
For the meeting link and access information see the DARC Calendar details on the day of the event.
Summits On The Air (SOTA) is operated world wide and is a points based award scheme for HAM radio amateurs that encourages portable operation in mountainous/hilly areas. SOTA is designed for all HAM Radio Amateurs and Shortwave Listeners – this is not just for mountaineers, campers and hikers. Points are awarded for activators (those who ascend to the summits and want to earn the title of Mountain Goat) and chasers (who either operate from home(shack sloths), a local hilltop or are even Activators on other summits). Below is the deck Curtis KC5CW will present or if you would like a copy grab one here on this link.
