POTA – Parks On The Air

WWFF Logo

Just because NPOTA (National Parks On The Air) is over for 2016 doesn’t mean you have to eBay all your portable/QRP rigs and gear.

The POTA – Parks On The Air program is alive and well so keep those batteries topped off and come join the world-wide fun of POTA – Parks On The Air.   POTA is the North American site for the World Wide Flora & Fauna in Amateur Radio.  Details and rules  are here on the POTA website, be sure to check out the awards program.   There is also a POTA  Facebook group  you can join.  The POTA program was inspired from NPOTA and many of the team members that brought you NPOTA are working on POTA, so it should be a ton of fun.  There are over 3000 parks in the database so finding one near you shouldn’t be a problem – in fact within a 50 mile radius of Dallas there are 3 very close to the Dallas area – Cedar Hill State Park (KFF-2996), Ray Roberts Lake(KFF-3051) and Lake Tawakoni (KFF-3031).  The program makes it easy to see what is close with an online-interactive map right here.  To get started you have to register in the WWFF (World Wide Flora Fauna) program here at this link.  Happy New Year 2017!  will look to see you in a Park sometime soon.
