There will be a meeting of HAMs interested in the Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network (AREDN) in North Texas on Saturday morning, Oct. 8, 2016 at St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church, 1222 West Beltline Rd, Richardson. A 10:00am informal work and node testing session will be followed a formal presentation at 12:30pm to the North Texas Microwave Society (NTMS) which meets in the afternoon in the same room. Visitors are welcome.
The purpose of AREDN is to deliver quality, high-speed data communications for Emergency Communications using 2.4, 3.3 and 5.8 GHz amateur radio frequencies not shared with Part 15 WiFi users. Amateur developed software is loaded into commercial off-the-shelf equipment which is then used to create a mesh data network.
More info about AREDN can be found at: http://www.aredn.org/ or stop by and say hello.
