Tech Net Announcements 3-25-2017

Don’t forget that the DARC trailer—and many of your favorite DARC friends—will be at the Wings of Freedom event at the Frontiers of Flight Museum tomorrow, from about 10:00 am to about 5:00 pm. We might shut down early, or stay a little late, depending on what the warbirds are doing. We also have Geek Net this Monday, and the CQ WPX contest is going on RIGHT NOW.

Your reward for clicking Read More: there’s an ISS pass tonight! It’s a short one. It begins at 9:04 pm and runs for only two minutes, reaching a height of 44 degrees. The ISS will travel from the SSW to the S. This is the first evening pass in our area since Feb 17th, 2017.

The UTSW Bird Sanctuary is becoming very active! The great egret chicks are hatching, and the black-crowned night herons, snowy egrets, and anhingas are all nesting.

If anyone has been to the Texas Pinball Festival I hope they’ll share what they saw.

A new vaccine might help prevent thousands of childrens’ deaths. Now, if only there were a vaccine for the norovirus that spreads on cruise ships.

Finally, there’s an intriguing new discovery about aging and DNA repair. We don’t know where this will lead, but it’s pretty interesting.
